How to find the source of a hidden water leak

Not every leak announces itself. Damp patches, musty smells and unexplained water bills can all be clues.

Look for the earliest sign

Check the areas closest to baths, showers, sinks, toilets, radiators and visible pipework. Damp often travels, so the visible mark may not be directly below the fault.

Check your meter

Turn off taps and appliances, then see whether the water meter continues to move. If it does, there may be an ongoing leak.

Arrange a proper diagnosis

Hidden leaks can cause structural damage if left unresolved. Call TPS for a professional assessment and repair.
